I don't think the new Sport barrels are "industry standard units". For a chrome lined barrel, the bore is cut larger to accommodate the layer of chrome. If you take a barrel that was cut to be chrome lined and just melonite it, the bore will be too large and out of spec. Not saying that they aren't sourced from somewhere, but they still aren't the 1:9, M4 profile 4140 barrels that many use.

I guess if I was going to buy one, I do care if it is Colt made, because with an $899 MSRP, you are paying for the name to some extent. If this rifle is made by Anderson, and had the Anderson name on it, it would not sell for near as much, at least not pre-panic. The exact same rifle would have to sell for less than the Sport for me to even look at it, since I am not familiar with Anderson.
