I can't help you with that question, because I've never used a laser (other than on my short-lived BG380.) I do find that putting some kind of lightweight object on the slide while dry firing does help indicate if you can hold your pistol still during the trigger pull, since the object falls off. I guess a laser would help with movement, if you were watching it to see if it moved.
