Considering how little I know about TN in general, I'm open to most area except Memphis. I've never heard anything that would make me say it's a place I'd where I'd want to live.

I'm not tied to a big city, in fact a smaller city would be fine. Even at that "downtown" is not the preferred area. While Chattanooga seems about right demographically, it would be in the outlying areas, not the city itself.
