Some of those older line drawings are easier to see, and make it a bit easier to understand the functioning of the guns compared to the black & white pictures in subsequent manuals, don't they?
I have some of the older S&W revolver & pistol armorer manuals with line drawings, as well as an early Walther P99 armorer manual with line drawings. Comparing that early P99 manual (or even the series of black & white pic SW99/SW99NJ armorer manuals) to the current color pic Walther armorer manuals makes for a really significant difference.
