Rabbit populations do run in cycles and that cycle is influenced by coyotes. I have thick brush behind my house that is currently full of wild rabbits. The coyotes will move in, I'll hear the howling, and then find lots of coyote poop full of rabbit hair and no more rabbits. Then it happens again next year. If I can kill a yote or two I'll have some rabbits to hunt after the first frost. At one time I had 14 rabbit dogs. (beagles) It can't be much more fun than this. The yotes and bobcats have taken a rabbit hunt from 15 to 20 killed to two or three, if you're lucky.
