Me, too.

Here's a critical look at them.

The U.S. figure is approximately correct and the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report (latest I could find) pegs the murder rate at 4.8 per 100,000 population.

It may well be that leads to the assumption the other numbers are "approximately" correct and there aren't many places one can find such a comparison. I couldn't find any except those referencing the same suspect source.

As rojodiablo pointed out, there's are some doozies in there.
