IMO, the cost cutting:
- Integral Trigger Guard - one less assembly operation
- No Forward Assist - less assembly, less part cost
- Heavy Barrel - no profile cuts in the barrel means less manufacturing cost
- Melonite Treated Barrel - less complicated manufacturing process
- Magpul Polymer Rear Sight - less expensive than metal
- Handguards - no heat shields
