Exactly, that is the way my Storm Lake barrel was, but my original barrel was not like yours. One thing you can try is put the new barrel into the slide and see how snugly it fits in there. Mine had some play, not like the stock barrel which fit very tightly. My stock .40 barrel looked like this one on the bottom.
