I had the same thought. Perhaps mis-marked .. or a little sag after 40 years.

Although I knew the Sheriff / Lewis pattern holster from TV and movies in the 60's and 70's (see Dragnet) it was unknown in this area.

The spring-post holster, however, was ubiquitous, and - like the Sheriff / Lewis, as likely to be worn straight draw as cross draw. (See Blue Bloods.)

Based on this Sheriff ... to my surprise ... I'll commit heresy and say that the spring-post is a better holster.

My single Clark spring-post has an odd 002 marking.
(Used to be a photo here...)

Comparing Clark photos, 2 - 4 - 5 - 6 markings appear to correspond to barrel length. If present, markings such as 32, 38, 44, 45 indicate frame size.

Adding 1971 and 1976 catalog pages for the Bucheimer spring-post holster -- the Sentinel.
