I'm unfamiliar with this conversion. Is the 686 cylinder too short to handle a .41 magnum?

I've thought for years the L-frame or GP100 could handle .41 magnum or 10mm.

Back in the 80s, an LGS was converting Pythons to .41 magnum. I figured it was a "have to ask , can't afford it" gun, so I never asked.
