Yep, a good 2x scope will work well. I like Leupolds myself. BUT, you are a good candidate for a red dot sight. If most of your shooting is about 75 yards and under, they are a great choice. Scopes with magnification can take a little getting used to on a handgun. A red dot with no magnification, or serious parallax, is right there when you snap the gun to your eye.

My eyesight has also gone the way of the bifocal, and lately in particular, I have been equipping my field handguns with tube / holo type red dots. Big difference.

Ultra Dots (about $175) are good reliable tube type sights, as are Aimpoints, at two or three times the price. I have also had good luck with Burris Fastfire and Leupold Delta holographic sights.
