It seemed like every town of any size had a least one brewery, and many had several, all of them putting out a superior product. Germany's Reinheitsgebot controls the ingredients that are allowed to be used in the making of bier--water, hops, and barley-nothing else. This law dates back to November 30, 1487, and obviously is a good one, as every sip I had while there was superb.
