As mentioned, Mountain Guns have a tapered barrel, plus a black powder chamfer on the cylinder, and a black, ramp front sight. They also have smooth triggers that I think may be slightly wider than standard at the time they were introduced. The net effect is that you save a few ounces. Plus, the tapered barrel gives a look that many on this Forum like.
