I fixed appliances for a GE servicer late 70s. One of my customers was a Gambles dealer that sold guns. I watched a 57 in walnut case slowly drop in price in his case and finally got the money for a down payment on layaway. I got to Ron's store only to see it gone as he sold it the night before and broke my heart as I'd read about them and wanted it bad.
Fast forward to 2003 and I found the same model gun unfired but with the gold filling they sometimes did years ago. I bought it for my 50th birthday and had soon fired it. Later bought an S serial with some holster wear and then a Ruger Bisley in .41 mag. Then new and old model Blackhawks and finally a Taurus snub.
Still haven't found a 58 but on my list as is a 57/657 in three inch.
