My feelings are...if you find yourself needing to grab your sidearm because a Grizzly is about to get a hold of you, things have already gone terribly wrong and you are in for physical harm even if you get a shot or 2 into it. But at that point, a short barrel .44 with stout ammo and bullets will be a good thing provided you get a hold of the gun and can make one count in time.
