Heiser Holster Model 2710
A while back I bought a used copy of the book "Packing Iron". The book is really interesting and has some fantastic pictures. I recently was able to get a holster like I remembered seeing in the book. It is a Heiser Holster Model 2710.
This beautiful dark brown holster is constructed of the "finest Oak Tanned California skirting leather". This right-hand piece incorporates a deeply recurved throat profile, semi-contoured main seam with top and bottom HHH rivets, and "Mexican hand carved" pouch. The contoured back skirt secures with two integral loops and features a border ornament of 79 solid nickel spots. It fits a 4 3/4 inch Colt Single Action Revolver. Heiser offered Fancy Spotted Holsters throughout the 1920s in a number of sizes and ornamental variations. It cost $5.25 when new in the 1928 Heiser catalog. A holster just like this (only longer) is prominently featured on page 191 of the book "Packing Iron" by RC Rattenbury.
I hope you all will like it. I don't think that I have seen many like it shown here. Maybe the spotted holsters just aren't that popular. Here are a few pictures:
