New guy to the forum. I own about a dozen guns, most of which belonged to my father. Several Winchester model 12's, a model 70 with peep sights, a few hand guns, and a model 12-2 S&W 38, and a S&W Model 1000 20ga shotgun (never fired).

I am trying to find information on the age of the 12-2, and read some posts that there is no S&W Serial # database. Here is the serial number, D766832 which is printed on the box. This gun was given to my father by an old friend. I assume it has been fired, but it has been stored for a very, very long time. Would appreciate it if someone could tell me when this gun was manufactured. It is a 6 shot.
