According to Wikipedia it seems the Model 12 Airweight was produced in 1957 & the 12-2 was the 1962 updated version with the front sight changed from 1/10" to 1/8".

The Air Force M13 version had an aluminum cylinder & a 2" barrel but was withdrawn from service after many failures.
