I wouldn't do it and just save up the money and look for a 3" gun.

I HAVE TO ROLL WITH Greyfox ON THIS. JUST LOOK FOR THE 3" GUN THAT MEETS YOUR NEEDS. WHEN YOU FIND IT, JUMP ON IT. IF IT NEEDS SOME TWEAKING, HAVE IT DONE. THEN SELL YOUR CURRENT GUN TO DEFRAY THE COST. YOU WILL EXTRACT THE FULL VALUE OF YOUR CURRENT GUN, AND PRESERVE THE VALUE OF YOUR NEW ACQUISITION. MEANWHILE, YOU CAN CONTINUE TO SHOOT YOUR 4" REVOLVER, KNOWING THAT EVENTUALLY YOUR DREAM WILL COME TRUE…..
