There are very good arguments on both sides of such an idea. After some thought I have decided to skip the mods and keep the 4" pure while looking for a 3" RB K frame. Tom R had a good idea with a WTT post in the classified section. I can't remember the last time I saw a 3" K frame in person. Wish me luck.
