I really like mine that I bought 3 years ago NIB at a gun show. Your post makes me very happy about the current price. Think about installing an after market hammer for regular shooting sessions. The GI hammer spur can bite if you have big hands.
EDIT: We visited the WW 2 museum in New Orleans last weekend. The 1911 on "technical display" listed an effective range of 27 yards
, must be because of the military sights.
