I bought the standard Remington 1911R1 a few years back. I've been really happy with mine.

The only real gripe I have about my Rem 1911 is that the 'black oxide' finish wore-off quick(compared to similar finished guns I own and use). Had some wonky casting irregularities inside the dust-cover that scratched the slide finish(a known issue with the frames)...and that's about it.

Good points are that mine(despite the series 80 safety) has a great trigger...shoots fantastic as far as accuracy...functions and feeds great too..not magazine picky as mine will function fine with ancient 1911 mags...cheap mags..expensive mags too.
