The laws for shooting a firearm in this area are simple, if you are doing it safely you are doing it legally. This means that the charge of wanton endangerment was a bull**** charge. Shooting birdshot upwards into the air(assuming not at an angle with possible people around that direction), is NOT putting people into grave danger of death or serious physical injury. The charge is incorrect and I hope he beats it. I feel sorry for this guy.
If it was a grave danger I would have been dead a long time ago. many a time sitting in a duck boat in Iowa I have had shot rain down on me it just happens in a public hunting area. I am sure the largest were probably #2s. Don
