On K-frame hammers prior to 1988, the hammer noses (firing pin) were held by a rivet only and wobbled slightly freely on the rivet. After '88, most K-frame hammers noses had a divet in which a small spring was held in tension against the hammer, eliminating hammer nose wobble.

If you wiggle a spring loaded hammer nose, you can feel the tension, there's no wobble, and the hammer nose returns to fixed position.

This is the type of hammer I'm looking for.

Are yours also factory bobbed?
