Luger - 1941 Mauser Banner Police "Eagle L" - 9mm
Here it is the last day of the year. This morning there was a thread about Lugers, and it made me think of one I have that I might share. It is somewhat rare and nice to look at. It's a 1941 Mauser Banner Police "Eagle L" - 9mm and remains in excellent condition.
These police Lugers have some interesting features, including the sear blocking mechanism not found on military Lugers. It's the little dog-legged flat spring riveted to the left side of the receiver that extends over the sideplate. It blocks the sear when the pistol is disassembled; thus preventing it from being fired. Did you know that a Luger top assembly will fire even when removed from the bottom frame?
