I was young and hard headed and I was contemptuous of the FBI M10 at first. I thought they should have given him a 4" Model 19 or 66 with .357 ammo. He was issued the now familiar .38 +P 158 g. LHP from WW and Remington.

Over the years I grew to appreciate his M10 and would love to have it or a copy today. He hung on to his revolver as long as he could until the late '90s when he was forced to turn it in and transition to the Sig P228 9mm. He asked if he could buy the M10 but the bureau said No Way. I imagine it was smelted.
Of course it was. That's what the Federal government does. Man that irritates me. I own a British contract Colt OP in 38-200 that was taken off of a felon who was on Federal Parole. I thought for sure it would go to the Feds who would destroy it after the case was adjudicated. However it stayed with my department so after many years it was finally sold to a licensed dealer who in turn sold it to me. That was pure luck. Shame about your brother's M10.
