I was 57, 5'9 165 lbs, with a "bad" cholesterol of 130, not bad at all. Smoke 1-3 cigars a week, no high blood pressure, no diabetes, in fact, ridiculously heathly.

I had no symptoms, thought i was getting the flu and passed out at work. Heart attack, The Widow Maker referenced above,complete blockage in an artery and cardiac arrest in the Cath Lab. ( an excellent place to have your heart stop) I had two stents installed.
Now, almost 3 years later, my bad cholesterol count is now in the 60s and I no longer eat things like cheese, ice cream, burgers etc. Same weight though.

I urge everyone over 40 to get a baseline stress test with a cardiologist. My almost fatal HA was my first symptom...
