On the wall directly in front of my safe (about 4’ distance & 7’ high) I have a large can type light fixture mounted that shines directly into the safe. It works well in illuminating the safe interior and also the general area.

It did not cost me a nickel as I had the parts from a rip out at a previous house and it works well. Put a plug/switch on the wire and plugged it in to an existing outlet. Total installation time about 7 minutes that was attaching the fixture and putting the plug and inline switch on.

FWIW I do have power in the safe for the “rod”, but above works so well I never thought of doing anything else. Going on 14 years now!
