I carry my 642 that way, no holster. I use the grip clip type grips. Very easy way to carry and the 642 stays put, though I wouldn't recommend it if you plan on carrying during any really physical activity. I did run with it just to test and that was fine. Plus I feel like Joe Pesci on Goodfellas when I carry this way... ;-p
