I shot both before getting the R8. Differences I caught is the TRR8 has a skeletonized underlug whereas the R8 does not. The TRR8 has a square notched rear sight; the R8 is V-notched. The R8 is an M&P; the TRR8 isn't, probably because the cutout in the underlug is where the M&P badge goes. Both triggers are very nice; both are Performance Center. It really boils down to whether or not you want the ability to take off the top rail. Both are great guns.
