This shows the recently acquired Stith mount and Lyman Alaskan 2.5X scope on a previously acquired 1927 .300 Savage 99G :
The Stith is an ingenious two peice mounting system that allows the mounting of a scope even though the old Savage 99 receivers were not drilled to accept a scope. Instead, the rear mount attaches via the tang holes and the front of the mount slides over the front of the scope and attaches via the dovetail slot for the rear iron sight
As some may be aware based on another post, the top two screws of the rear mount came frozen and the scope plus rear mount is being sent to a smith to loosen/replace the screrws
