Biggest worry I got here in Canada is coyotes and the odd bear that wanders through.
Now I must admit we have shootings but that is very rare even in Toronto as they have had only 39 shootings for 2016.

What sense does it make to go through the trouble and risk of carrying a gun--the inconvenience, the discomfort, the effort, the expense, the risk--
with no plan on using it? I would suggest that simply toting one around with no thought given to its accessibility is not only stupid, but reckless.
