I have shot CMP "Military" ammo for years and never had a problem. Wonder if you were really shooting original military ammo or reloads. My reloads for the M1 are indistinguishable from factory mil rounds, other than they might be shiny. Even that difference will disappear with age.

I will just make one more plea not to shoot old ammunition from unknown sources. It only takes one mistake to ruin your day and is never worth the risk.
