Default Old Ammo

It is hard to tell if the ammo is good just by looking. I was given some 45 ACP ammo a few years ago by the range officer in a police pistol league I attended. The ammo was Federal 185 grain match. It was in an old looking box but it was in good condition. When I fired it reacted like a flintlock rifle. The hammer fell, then the primer hissed, then the round went off. I shot three rounds and every one behaved like the first. The RO told me he got it from a neighbor who kept it in a refrigerator in the garage. I guess the neighbor also kept food in the refrigerator as well and the moisture penetrated the ammo.
