I wish the OP well with his new Taurus, but the anecdote of rburg above is more indicative of the brand, at least in my experience. FFL dealers in NYC, where handgun purchase authorizations are difficult to come by, refuse to carry Taurus.
Never forgot the 1989 review of the Taurus equivalent of the Model 10 service revolver. The reviewer fired 500 rounds of standard pressure .38 service ammo in the gun. He discovered at the end of the test that the barrel/cylinder gap had more than doubled... Never happen on a Model 10 under the same circumstances.
