To compare the two you have to realize that the Glock barrel is not that long if you measure it as you would a revolver barrel. i.e. 3.4" is the measurement from the back of the cartridge to the muzzle.
That said, ballistically the best round depends on the length, weight, shape, etc of the bullet. A 147gr 9mm will have almost twice external ballistic coefficient than a 158 gr .357 magnum lead flat nose.
If you are talking about terminal ballistics, then whichever load has more muzzle energy will generally have the advantage, all else being equal (size, shape, type, etc)
