It's been mentioned a couple times already, but the Walther P88 goes on the top of my list. These are my 2:
As long as you have medium to large hands it's a great gun, especially for a lefty like me.
For S&W, the 5906 is a great gun, here is mine with an overrun 5" slide (probably from Super 9 production):
The single stack compacts were probably some of the best concealed carry guns ever made. Here is my 3914 (along with my Shorty 40):
But just about any 3rd gen S&W 9 is pretty nice. Here is a TSW5943 I picked up when S&W decided to discontinue the metal guns:
It's a real shame the 3rd gens were gone, there was something for everyone, Steel, Alloy, Full Size, Compact, Double Stack, Single Stack, Double Action, Single Action, DAO.
