I compared the Shield against the XD-S and the LC9. Being an XD fan (and hating the factory triggers of the M&P FS or M&Pc), I expected to go home with an XD-S.
Shooting the 3 side-by-side, I preferred the Shield over the other two. The factory trigger of the LC9s is a little nicer than that of the Shield, but the perceived recoil (in MY hands) was smoother with the Shield than either the XD-S, or LC9 (lower bore axis?).

Before making your purchase, try to actually shoot each that you're considering and go with the one that performs better for YOU.
