I did my next quarterly qualification, 50 rounds per qual. Total of 100 rounds through the gun. I took it apart to clean it and the recoil spring assembly came apart. No way to reassemble it. I called S&W and the customer service representative said he would see if he could find one to send out to me. Needless to say I no longer trust that gun. Bummer, it's such a nice carry and very accurate...😩

A number of Shield RSAs have had this problem. S&W is well aware of this situation, and they will get you a good one. And a good one will function reliably for many thousands of rounds, because Shield RSAs are actually quite stout when properly manufactured.
