Back when you could find S&W stocks on ebay for under $20 I bought a pair of K frame smooth Target Stocks that needed refinishing. I cut about half of the wood off of the bottoms but still left enough to completely enclose the bottom of the grip frame. I then beveled the bottom circumference. They feel much better on a 4" K frame, they don't seem to overpower the shorter barreled guns like the the full size Target Stocks do.
