Anyone want to help debunk that?
No.

The reasons someone carries a gun are infinitely variable. Someone who does not carry may attribute motives to someone who does that are completely off-base, but that's merely an opportunity to engage and educate.

When I am at my principal residence outside of Dallas, I do not carry a gun. The firm I work for does not allow guns or ammunition - even in employee's/contractor's cars in the parking lot - so I don't risk forgetting to sweep my car before going to work. I'm months away from retirement and need to keep my pension and health insurance.

When I am at my retirement farm in Arkansas, the county only has one deputy on duty at any time to cover 82 square miles, so a gun is always nearby. Still, I don't carry when I go to the nearby town because I don't feel the need to be armed when I'm there and I don't see any point lugging a gun into town to go to the bank or church when the gun just has to be stowed in the vehicle while I'm there.
