It's difficult to make a mistake when buying a 642. S&W seems to have the mfg down pat; the variants offer slightly different features, none of which IMO change the performance or "mission" of the gun. They serve as "gotta haves" for J-hounds like me who "gotta have" every example.

I just bought SKU 101648 which offers the moon clip feature. This is of no use to me, while the gun itself, a PC model, is very nice. My recent SKU 10186 also has an "enhanced action," whatever that means. Another nice gun. For someone considering a 642, I would not be reluctant to buy a PC model. You only go around once.
