the canik tp9 series is a great pistol, I now own two (tp9sa , and a tp9sf)and have a preorder in on the new tp9sfx.

I own a lot of glocks as well as other name branded polymer guns and I prefer the canik over the glock 17/19, as well as the sig 290, and my polymer cz 75.

both of mine were shooting to point of aim out of the box, and they have fed everything I have thrown at them

I have never had anyone who shot one that did not like the gun

your mother picked a great gun at a reasonable price point, if she got the tp9sa, show her how the decocker works and how easy it is to reset the striker

my older brother who owns a cz75 bought one of the tp9sa, after shooting mine and like me, he liked the ideal of having a loaded round with a dead trigger and short reset feature of this pistol

she could have spent more money, but IMO she could not buy a better polymer frame gun
