You should remeasure the cylinder length to determine if it is actually a Model 53 cylinder .
S&W discontinued the 53 around 1974 but they stopped serial stamping the cylinder face way before that which leads me to believe this was made to go with a specific partner gun,
While there is a chance it was special ordered as a partner to a .22 Magnum that is uncommon where spare .22lr cylinders for the Model 53 was a factory option.

Big difference in a run O the mill K-22 cylinder and a M-53 spare .22lr cylinder .
