While a complete doofus and a prime candidate for Diabetes that newspaper article had a VERY distinct bias. I also suspect that a trained police officer encountering the exact same situation would have either drawn his taser or firearm, because you just do NOT go "hands on" against 2 or more opponents.
So in some respects this Doofus did some things correctly. His first mistake was being too quick to draw his firearm, what he should have done was tell the 2 "attackers" that 911 had been called and the police were just 2 minutes away according to 911. His second mistake was firing a "warning shot", that is something that you never ever do.
