This will probably get me tarred and feathered here, but I had one of the Thunder Ranch guns a few years ago, and I too HATED to stocks. I replaced them with a set of round to square butt Houges and really liked the way they felt and looked. They gave the gun a "serious business" look about it, and as a side benefit covered most of the "golden chicken" on the side.
I've got two 44 Specials now. A 24-3, and a 396-1. I blame it on Skeeter Skelton.
