I am new to all this but hopefully I'm in the right place.

My dad recently passed and he had several hunting guns and pistols. My brother and I split these up and my mother wanted to keep one of the pistols. Later she decided she wanted to give it to me.

I'm just trying to get information on it so I can make the transfer official and fill in all the blanks on the paperwork.

There is no model #listed. From a quick look I think what I may have is a S&W .32 3rd model. An old .32 cartridge I had around will go in the cylinder but is of course too long. The Serial# 162843 is on the bottom of the handle and on the cylinder. Can someone tell me if I have it properly identified? What else might someone know about it? Value?
