I read about the thin black front sight and that's what threw me. I think S&W is famous for using what they had in stock sometimes vs. building to a particular spec like they had to do for contracts.

FWIW - what do you think the current value of the gun is even without the "proper" sight? I haven't seen a photo of it yet but the photos I have seen of his guns show them to be in VG or better condition.

He also has a 3" M66 that he originally offered at $700 but was on a local forum (dang it!) & saw one go for $1100 which everyone thought was fair. It has a pair of beautiful Keith Brown grips and a custom handstitched OWB holster but he decided to keep it for obvious reasons.
