First of all, 72, & up was rated in net HP, while 71, & below was rated in gross HP, so you lost at least 70 HP right there. But by 72, compression had dropped, & there was plenty of pollution junk on the cars to kill the power. 1970 was the last best year. The 454 LS6 was 460 HP, while the 454 LS5 was 390 HP. These were rated in gross HP, & for insurance purposes, were rated low. Around here, 72-79 Vettes are $5000+, as long as they're small blocks, but not LT1's. GARY
