Excellent post. It won't hurt those guns to be shot and enjoyed if you choose to...especially since you don't have resale in mind. As long as you take care of them they will always look great and bring you much joy. The 39-2 is an earlier one as testified to by the "hole in the hammer". This holdover from the 39's was only present in the earliest of 39-2's. All of my 39-2's are solid hammers.

You mentioned your dad passed in '89 which begs the question of why so long to post?
